Early summer, 1983. A small village called Hinamizawa is plagued by a series of mysterious deaths every year. Is it a conspiracy, a coincidence, or a curse? In this claustrophobic environment where secrets are impossible to keep, paranoia turns neighbors into monsters. Do you believe in the curse?
I think the casting for the role of Mion was a bit of a miss... The other three were actually quite a good fit.
The story is faithful to the source material, and for a parody, it's quite well-crafted; as a fan of the original, I actually felt more affection for this than the movie adaptation. In these types of cosplay productions, the actual sex scenes are often neglected, but I was impressed that they didn't cut corners there either. I was particularly blown away by the 'Keiichi x Satoko x Rika' scene in the middle. The 'Keiichi x Mion' scene was also good in terms of the situation, but on the flip side, Rena felt overshadowed by the supporting cast. (There are about two sex scenes if you include the bonus footage.)
As a fan of the original work, I was twice surprised: first by the incredible level of detail in the recreation, and second by how much money they must have spent on it. It actually feels more authentic than the live-action movie adaptation. However, as an AV, it's a bit... well, it's cheaper than the original DVD containing 2-3 episodes of the anime, so if you're just curious about the story, this might be worth a watch (laughs).
I'm a fan of the original work, so I rented this out of curiosity. They cast cuter actresses than I expected; the ones playing Rena, Rika, and Satoko were actually pretty good. In terms of eroticism, the H-scenes themselves are sparse, and honestly, the pairings other than Satoko and Rika were a tough watch. I guess it just goes to show that you shouldn't expect too much erotica from (3D) parody works!
I mean... look, as a fan of the original work, I want to give this the lowest rating possible, but since it's just an AV, maybe this is acceptable? No, it's an AVโI don't get why they half-heartedly ripped off the source material. If they had just made it a simple cosplay flick, it might have actually worked as a decent AV.
