CADV-093 - Crystal Soap: Hot & Steamy Bubble Service Tonight

The image quality is good, the mosaic is reasonably thin, the cast is high-level, and the best-of editing hits all the right spots, so I enjoyed it thoroughly when I bought it in early 2009. However, now that Blu-ray is the standard, I have to say this 4:3 aspect ratio product is overpriced unless they adjust the cost. I'd only recommend it to hardcore soap-land genre fans or those who really like the actresses featured. One flaw: while the DVD is 4:3, two of the ten segments (Aya Hirai and Kira Namikaze) take original 16:9 footage and add black bars to the top and bottom to force it into 4:3. If you play this on a 16:9 TV, you get black bars on all four sides, making the image tiny. It's possible to mix 4:3 and 16:9 on one DVD by defining the aspect ratio for each segment, so I wonder if the editor was just lazy or lacked the technical skill to do it right.
