At the end of the war, widow Kasumi can no longer suppress her burning desires. Seeking comfort in the tight, rough embrace of hemp ropes, she surrenders to the forbidden pleasure of bondage to soothe her lonely soul.
I burst out laughing at them having sex while wearing air-raid hoods. Are they expecting a bomb to drop mid-act? The loincloth (fundoshi) was also completely out of nowhere.
If you think about it deeply, living is essentially the practice of death. SM often features play that stares into the very limits of life, and the so-called carotid artery play that appears toward the end of this film is one such example. In this SM play, where the two characters are in such a desperate situation that even the creator calls them 'demonic,' the only salvation is the man's affection as he licks the woman's runny nose as if she were his own child. With Nanase's performance, where her sexual pleasure intensifies as she's bound by ropes, this is a film worth watching closely. It would be a shame to dismiss it as just another SM AV.
In terms of content, there's a decent story, but the cast is just too small. I think it would have felt much more realistic if they had added more men to the mix.
Near the end of the war, Kasumi is mourning her husband who died in battle when the man who once forced himself upon her returns. He desires her again, and though her heart resists, her body cannot lie, pulling her into a whirlpool of lust. It was a role that didn't quite fit Nanase Kasumi, but she gave a passionate performance. The monpe pants and the headscarf really captured the period aesthetic well.
It's pretty soft for an Akai production. I guess this is the limit for Kasumi Nanase? Though she seems to like it and even recommends it herself.
