Worrying about a childhood friend who's not very sociable, engrossed in their hobbies. The otaku, without any sense of crisis or urgency, displays immense passion when talking about their interests. No need to worry. Then, they report making a cosplay costume of their favorite character and show it off themselves. The completion of the costume and the transformed appearance of the otaku wearing it make a striking impression. Objectively confirming the transformed appearance through photos, it's different from the familiar previous self. This captures the basics and essence of cosplay. Usually, they just maintain a mundane, habitual relationship with their childhood friend. But, the completely changed appearance adds a huge impact in contrast to their usual unremarkable self. The otaku, unable to withstand the shock, feels excited and confused, yet accepts it all. The otaku transforming from their usual pathetic self into their beloved character through cosplay. This is where the joy of cosplay lies. Capturing the contrast between the usual self and the transformed self, the relationship as it is and the relationship in a non-daily space. It has grasped the basics. The direction and acting are somewhat exaggerated, but it supports the world view and isn't excessive or insufficient. The actor's portrayal of the pathetic otaku and the subsequent cosplay appearance both suit the role, establishing it as a pillar of the work. However, the actor still lacks a sense of realism. The shortage of young actors and casting based on the actor's style are always problems, and here too, they just don't look like childhood friends. It's exaggerated and delusional, but it can also be interpreted as a form of expression. But it's certainly a challenge that needs to be addressed in the future. Here, cosplay is just a trigger, but it's a masterpiece that concisely expresses the transformation and the changing relationship caused by this stimulus. Although the development is safe and typical due to it being a short piece, it has grasped the basics as mentioned above, and this basic is essential for all cosplay works, a undeniable standard. There are many simple cosplay works, but the reason this work gives a different impression is because it firmly depicts this contrast.

No, no, no… Kashiwagi-san’s cosplay skills are on another level. The difference between her nerdy look at the beginning and her current appearance is just too huge! The way they play with that contrast is typical Hunter, and I bet they scoured the world for ugly glasses specifically because normal ones would just ‘beautify’ Kashiwagi-san. Anyway, Kashiwagi-san’s transparency after the cosplay is truly beautiful, and I thought there was no way I could defile such a girl… but they just go ahead and completely debauch her in super revealing outfits. I really enjoyed Kashiwagi-san’s part in the omnibus version too, so I was really glad they sold cut-out videos of it. You can tell they put a lot of effort into this.
