Even from the front, if the actress is kissing the guy or leaning forward so you can't see her face or breasts, it defeats the purpose of the cowgirl position. It was nice that there weren't many of those typical diagonal angles, but the camera going completely sideways was a bad call. They shouldn't prioritize their own 'artistic' vision over the viewer's experience. Don't do things that distract from watching the actress. That said, there were a few shots from a low front angle where you could see the penetration clearly, which captured the appeal of the cowgirl position perfectly.
