Sumire KurokawaEvery day, I hear the shouting and screaming from next door. When the abused wife is kicked out, I can't just leave her be. We start living together in my cramped apartment, and soon, our bodies grow close. I've fallen for her, forgetting she's a married woman.
This was close to her Inagawa-era image. I really liked Kurokawa-san back then. She's a great actress.
Sumire Kurokawa is tall and slender; she isn't exactly 'glamorous' in the traditional sense, but she has this tragic, fragile aura that makes you want to protect her, yet she still exudes a subtle sexiness. She plays a wife who leaves home due to domestic violence and starts living with a college student next door, only to return to her husband after he begs her, saying, 'I can't live without you, I love you.' It's the perfect casting. I was curious how they'd handle the delicate relationship with the student, but the final 'breakup sex' scene—where she says, 'If we keep this up, he'll find out, and I don't know what he'd do to you'—was incredible. The way they crave each other in a forbidden relationship is masterfully done. As expected from director Jo Asagiri, the cinematography is beautiful. As someone who loves a good drama, this is a film I'll watch over and over.
Perhaps it's her low-toned voice, but she felt perfectly cast as a wife suffering from domestic abuse. I also liked how she tried to take the lead, drawn to the virgin guy's kindness. If I had to ask for more, I wish she had shown a bit more emotional complexity during the forced sex scenes.
The mosaic is too heavy and the lighting is dark. ◆Especially the kitchen blowjob scene—it's a waste since she's wearing black stockings, but the lighting is way too dim. ◆The cowgirl position around the 1:30 mark: why does the actor sit up? I want to see the actress's ass, not a man's stomach.
The story concept is interesting, but the actor playing the student/virgin role is just terrible. Sumire-chan tries her best to cover for him, but his weird laughter and awkward, unnatural flirting are nothing but a total turn-off. I wish they had cast a different actor and gone for a heartbreaking, bittersweet ending. I'm sure it would have been a much better work if it had been that way for Sumire-chan.
