Hmm, I'm not sure. The premise is a bit loose. The style is, well, average. The story feels loose too. If you like soft stuff, this might be just right.
She's not exactly a classic beauty, but she's strangely erotic! The actor playing the stepfather has this rugged, mountain-man look that I thought was perfect for the role. The pacing is slow, but the way they build that sleazy atmosphere and show the actress getting drawn in has a unique charm.
I bought it right after release and watched it twice, but I was at a loss for how to review it... but! I assume they intended to depict a cute wife becoming a prisoner of bondage and rope, much like the masterpiece that was the previous entry. However, the reaction just wasn't there! Depending on how you look at it, it could be seen as a wife feeling lonely in her marriage, being held by ropes for the first time, trembling between anxiety and anticipation. But it felt like it lacked that raw, deep-seated reaction from a woman. Like the previous work, there's the 'knot-crossing' and variations in play, and the attempt to show a 'fallen' wife in the final scene is interesting. However, based on the reactions, I felt Satomi Suzuki wasn't the right fit for a work that requires portraying masochism. For the sake of this great series, I'd like to see actresses with a natural masochistic streak and expressive reactions—like (omitting honorifics) Nozomi Hazuki, Azumi Harusaki, Nanako Mori, Saya Yukimi, or Konatsu Aozora—take on the 'Kikkou-shibari Wife' role and explore various scenarios.
