The friction while still wearing jeans is quite erotic. Up to this point, it's a standard, albeit steamy, lesbian film. The second half involves them exploring each other, which seems to be a major hurdle for Ryo. It moves beyond surface-level fears of causing pain to a deeper confession: she hates female genitalia, hates being a woman, and has deep-seated complexes. She can compartmentalize it as 'work,' but because she genuinely likes and trusts Chika, she feels resistance to showing her 'dirty' parts or being seen as a sexual object. How Chika handles this is the highlight of the chapter, and it's likely to elicit mixed reactions. The self-loathing of being a woman feels like an original sin, and the theme is whether they can overcome it through their play (or if they even need to). I'm grateful to the director and the two actresses for landing this so well, even as the high thematic stakes risked diluting the entertainment value.

It’s a story about Ryo Yazawa’s emotional walls—or shell—breaking down, and the bond between the two deepening. I fell for the kindness Chika Arimura shows Ryo Yazawa. Ryo Yazawa’s tears really touched my heart. I tend to watch documentary-style AVs as if they were movies, so personally, I’m very satisfied. I think this might be a masterpiece that’s better than most mediocre films out there.
