This series is pretty much pure fantasy, but it has a dedicated fanbase. In this setup, the childhood friend is definitely cuter than the 'first-time' girlfriend. The success of the story depends on the actress playing the childhood friend, and Yui Nagase was a perfect fit. The final scene where they confirm their feelings with an internal climax was great. Highly recommended.

I don't get why he falls for her. She's so unattractive that I'd definitely choose the childhood friend instead.

I love this series. This time it's Yui Nagase. The uniform fits her perfectly with zero awkwardness; she's incredibly cute and her tsundere acting is top-notch. Yui-chan is a perfect 10, and the situation and story are fine, but the only downside was the male actor. He looked like a middle-aged man and couldn't pass for a high schooler at all, so I couldn't get immersed. I know it's tough, but since it's a popular series, I really wish they'd cast actors who can actually pass for high schoolers.

Both Nagase and the male lead give great performances. It's definitely erotic, but it holds up as a regular film too. Actually, if you took out the sex, it might have been a boring movie. Sometimes, showing the sex is exactly what makes the ending feel refreshing and moving. I've seen other entries in the series, but I highly recommend this one for the piano soundtrack—it felt like an old French film.
