I doubt there's any other film that dedicates so much time to the dancing scenes. It spends about an hour on the stage performance and related scenes. Plus, the setting includes an audience. The situation of dancing ballet on stage while being watched by an audience is fantastic. This is the only work like it, which makes it a rare gem. Most other ballerina-themed works only have short, token dance scenes, and naturally, no stage setting. In this film, you can really tell the dancer is conscious of being 'watched' by the audience. I just wish they had lit the audience seats a bit more; I wanted to see their expressions better.
