This is one of my favorites among Nagase Asami's works, so I bought it again in 4K. As she's aged, she's become more composed, and her body has matured—her breasts have sagged a bit, but I love that natural look. It's beautiful. What I felt while watching is that Asami (Nagase) isn't the perpetrator to begin with. I understand her feeling guilty, but if you look at it, wasn't the act committed by the bereaved family (the actor) against Asami actually rape? The final scene was consensual, but the first sex was clearly non-consensual. I’m not denying the use of rape tropes in AV, but it makes no sense to ignore the man's actions and force a sense of atonement onto Asami, who isn't even the perpetrator. They spend so much time on the drama, but what’s the point? She was only attempted to be assaulted the first time, so her going back there willingly feels very unnatural; there’s no 'female instinct' or sense of moral taboo to be found. It’s like she’s waiting to be assaulted, which could potentially reinforce wrong stereotypes about women. The character writing is also poor—the husband just gets his wife stolen, and the dead wife is just dead, which is pathetic. The bereaved family was already difficult, but they’ve made him even worse. Lately, many Nagae Style works feel lacking or boring. It might be a lack of talent in the directing or writing staff, but while it’s fine to think about 'new atonement,' they really need to think about a 'new Nagae Style.' That’s all.
